On June 10, 1720, Pierre Mayeux
embarked on the Profond, commanded by M. du Gerneur bound for Louisiana from La
Rochelle, France. He was on the passenger list as a worker for the
Law Concession,
a company owned by John Law and granted a 25-year monopoly by the French
Government to do business in the West Indies and North America. On that
same ship was his future wife, Marie Sellier. Together, they started one of the first
families of Louisiana--one that is still very prominent today.![]() There is a NEW discussion page to post queries on Mayeux Family genealogy. Click HERE to visit the board. If you have questions, comments or suggestions, please do not hesitate to e-me. |
